Library
The Mary Immaculate School Library provides students with age and content appropriate reading material, reading comprehension programs and research material to supplement the classroom.
The Library and its' staff assist students in testing reading comprehension level using the Starr Reading assessment, and encourages reading with the Accelerated Reading Program.
Twice during the school year, the MIS Library conducts a week long book fair offering current books at an appropriate reading level. During this sale, all MIS Families are invited to participate in the MIS campaign to provide books for the USO to be used in their United Through Reading Program, which assists military families by keeping them connected through reading. A military member is recorded and videotaped reading a book for the benefit of their children in the states. A DVD and the book are provided for the family so that the children have the benefit of listening to and following along with Mom’s or Dad’s voice nightly. Bring in a new book or buy one at the book fair to contribute to this very worthwhile program!
A portion of each sale during the Book Fair goes to the ongoing maintenance and materials for the library. Please click here to visit the Scholastic Books Mary Immaculate Book Fair page.
