Facilities Development

In 2015, a facilities development team was formed to determine necessary improvements needed for our aging buildings. A complete facilities review, led by our Mel Schrafnagel, our Parish Facilities Manager, identified and prioritized facilities improvements. An eight phase development plan was created.

VAI Architects was engaged to review the facilities development team’s plans and lead the architect/engineering team. Highest priority (Phase 1) went to a renovation of the four-classroom junior high building, a $550,000 project which was completed in Summer 2017. With the help of over $190,000 in grants from foundations and local organizations,  improvements to the 1962 building inclued roof repairs, energy efficient windows and storefronts, movement away from current boiler system and old AC units to energy efficient HVAC rooftop systems, and floor and ceiling repairs to the hallway.

Implementation of Phase 2 is targeted for Summer 2020.

The estimated time frame for the planning and implementation of all eight phases is 10 years, with the help of a future capital campaign that will incorporate school facility needs with improvements for church facilities as well.
