Mary Immaculate’s 2020-21 Year and Pandemic Response

MIS continues to discern the best ways to keep our MIS family healthy, safe and learning together while remaining steadfast in our mission of forming students to grow in faith, hope and love. MIS will offer two models this year, in-person and eLearning (see buttons on right). Parents will be able to choose the learning model they prefer on a quarterly basis. Parents may change their model of choice about two weeks prior to each new quarter.

safety sources

MIS is working in accordance with the guidelines provided by the following sources. Some protocols, procedures and guidelines are defined by TCCBED, others by the CSO and still others by MIS in consultation with Fr. Michael and the School Advisory Council (SAC).As a parochial school, we are not required to adhere strictly to TEA guidelines for re-opening. We will continue to respond to guidance from the Bishop, Governor and state/local governments. Our re-opening plan has been approved by the CSO.

Visitors (such as parents, grandparents, and volunteers) are not permitted inside (CSO).

athletics & extra curricular activities

There will be no DPL sports or extra curricular activities this Fall (CSO)

Health & Safety

Non-medical grade face coverings will be required for all employees and students. Ventilation valves are NOT permitted. Click the header for details. This is a CSO requirement.

hand sanitation

Students will use hand sanitizer upon entering school at the new hand sanitization stations which are activated with a foot pedal. There are also sanitizer bottles throughout the school. Students will also wash their hands frequently throughout the day. Students will be given a handwashing video to demonstrate proper techniques. Parents are encouraged to discuss hand sanitation with your child(ren).

Show your children how far six feet is so they can maintain safe distances.

mis clinic

The clinic now has two wait areas. One is for students with fever and/or symptoms. The other is for playground injuries and non-contagious needs.

  • The building will be thoroughly disinfected each evening

  • High touch surfaces will be disinfected frequently through the day

  • Drinking fountains will not be used. Students should bring their own water bottle to school

  • We are in the process of determining safe protocols for playground equipment.
