Volunteering with MIS

Involvement by parents, grandparents and friends of MIS enriches the lives of our students and faculty.  Alumni, parishioners, grandparents, and friends are invited to volunteer. To keep our students safe, volunteers who will have contact with children must complete an annual Safe Environment training and pass a background check. For more information, click here for the Safe Environment Program page.

General Volunteers

We have several volunteer opportunities. The more helping hands we have, the more our school will make! If you would like to help or want more information about the following opportunities, please contact our Development Director Kassidy Sanders at ksanders@mischool.org.

Coaching

Volunteer coaching is a great way for you to show your support, share your time and share your knowledge of sport with the Mary Immaculate School community. Volunteer coaches are the mainstay of the athletics program, enabling hundreds of students to participate in sports at MIS.

Typically, volunteer coaches are solicited a few months before the sport starts, as well as in a general call for coaches at the beginning of the year. Each team will have a coach with knowledge of and experience with the sport, as well as a positive approach in dealing with the age group they will coach. Coaches meetings are held before each season to discuss expectations for all involved.

In addition to Safe Environment training, the Dallas Parochial League requires mandatory training for all volunteer coaches through the DPL's Play Like A Champion training program. This training is offered at various schools throughout the year to provide our volunteers with a coaching technique that develops maturity, spirit and athletics. Anyone who would like to coach a team should call us at 972-243-7105 x 115.

Parent Teacher Club

The goal of the Parent Teacher Club (PTC) is to bring into closer relationship the spiritual and educational forces of the home and school, and to have parents and teachers cooperate in the education of our children through promoting communication among the administration, faculty and school parents, recruiting and coordinating volunteer support for the school, providing programs, events and supplies that enrich student, parent and faculty life, and more. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an approach to the religious formation of children grounded in Sacred Scripture, Catholic Doctrine, Liturgy and Prayer.  Themes are presented in such a way as to develop the religious potential present in every child:  the capacity to love and be loved and be in a deep relationship with God.  Click the header for details.

Mary Immaculate Dads

The Mary Immaculate Dads (MIDs) plan several activities throughout the year for parents and children to make memories together. They also support the school with various fundraisers and labor when needed. Click the header for details.

Grandparents’ Club

The MIS Grandparents’ Club enriches relationships between grandparents and students by engaging grandparents to pray, participate and support the school. Whether you live near or far, MIS offers grandparents several ways to get involved. Click the header for details.
