Community involvement in our numerous activities deeply enriches the lives of our students and faculty. Community members (including alumni family members, parishioners, and grandparents) are invited to participate as school greeters, coaches and event volunteers. Note that all volunteers who will have any contact with MIS students or other children on the MIS campus must complete the Safe Environment Program training/certification every year and must pass a background check prior to having any contact with students. For more information, visit the Safe Environment Program page.
Volunteer coaching is a great way for you to show your support, share your time and share your knowledge of sport with the Mary Immaculate School community. Volunteer coaches are the mainstay of the athletics program, enabling hundreds of students to participate in sports at MIS.
Typically, coach volunteers for a particular sport are solicited a month or so before the sport starts, as well as in a general call for coaches at the beginning of the year. Ideally, each team will have a coach who has knowledge and experience with the sport, as well as a positive approach in dealing with the particular age group they are coaching.
Coaches meetings are held before each season to discuss the expectations of the coach, athlete, and the parents.
In addition to Safe Environment training, the Dallas Parochial League requires mandatory training for all volunteer coaches through the DPL's Play Like A Champion training program. This training is offered at various schools throughout the year to provide our volunteers with a coaching technique that develops maturity, spirit and athletics.
Anyone who would like to apply to coach a team needs to contact [Michele Jones], Athletic Director at 972-243-7105 x 115.
Greeters serve as the warm and welcoming face of MIS and as stewards for safety. Many of our Greeters are current MIS parents, grandparents and retired community members. Please consider sharing a couple of hours of your time for the safety of our children.
Please contact the school office for more information.
Many community events, such as the Parish Fall Festival and the annual MIS Heart of Gold Auction, require hours of planning during the school year, and we always have room for more volunteers! Contact the school office and we will connect you with the chairperson for these events.
